Malcolm James Furst

Words, words, words

About me

Sometimes I focus so intently on what I’m doing, seeing, hearing, touching, smelling, tasting that the world is reduced to a pinpoint. Then I relax, and it explodes back into being.

Sometimes I don’t.

I am passionate about writing, and I am working gradually to simplify my life so that I can write a lot more often, but for the time being, I write what I can and hope someone else will take notice. Thanks for reading. Please, key me know what you like and what you don’t.

Hmm. I wonder, how does that feel?

I think I’ve come close at times to being able to focuse solely on one thing in the way you describe, but I’m too easily distracted at times, or I have simply too much on my mind. I can immerse myself entirely within something, but I have to be extremely tired to do so, and in the end I either forget to think and fall asleep, or my mind is so lazy it cannot progress in anything.

In any case, I’ve digressed. Skip everything I’ve just said, ignore it please, and just read my original question. πŸ˜€

Oh, and I’m looking forward to reading your things.

Well, thank you, thesleepingtypewriter. I hope my writing doesn’t disappoint.

As for the feeling, well, everything but what I’m looking at just fades away. It doesn’t get dark, it just seems to disappear. I start to feel a little pressure or electricity or magnetism in my head. Sounds kooky, but it’s as if I can physically feel the activity in my mind.

Practice makes perfect, and learning to focus ones mine certainly has benefits. There are, of course, hormonal and other issues that can prevent this kind of focus.

No, not kooky, really. I’ve had those moments where it seems like I am completely disjointed from everything, sounds come from farther off, and I feel as though I’m simply a nonentity looking out through my eyes, invisible and unseen. No kookier than you. πŸ˜€

That’s very interesting though, and no, I doubt your writing will disappoint me. I’ve already some of your poems, they’ve all been well recieved. πŸ™‚
